Sometimes, pictures lie.

Or they reveal, just a small part of truth.

What could a photo capture of the beauty of a swarm of hundreds of pink flamingos? What could it inscribe of the luscious sensation at the view of Thick Amdes, sand dunes that expand over an area of 70 acres in the northwest part of the island or that of a waterfall flowing down marvelously?

A very few!

This part of the north-eastern Aegean hides plenty exquisite sceneries, all of them in just one island.

Its terrain is itself a wonder. Almost the whole of Limnos consists of low, cultivated, wavy hills. The landscape is absent of dense forestry or large trees, and this natural scenery is completed with crucial wetlands with complexes of lakes, an excellent example of wild nature with minimum human impact. In this harmony of contrasts, water co-exists with hills of fine sand and brushwood, bringing to mind the feeling of desert's charm in the middle of the Aegean Sea.

Its location and the low highlands give away a unique scenery of the whole of the Aegean Sea, even when the traveler is in the inland of the island.

Thasos, Samothrace, Imbros, Tenedos, the Asia Minor coast, Agios Efstratios and the faint lines delineating the top of Mount Athos and Mount Pageo create images of distinctive beauty and render Limnos an artful observatory.

A natural environment that composes a unique aesthetic experience.

You can only adventure Limnos by being there. After all, pictures lie.
