Myrina
The capital with the low houses and the mansions, looks like a scenery of a bygone era. The town which is crowned by the largest fortress of the Aegean Sea, has more than three and a half thousand years of history.

Plati
The village was named Plati, either because of the flat ground where it is lying, or by the wide outfall of the nearby bay (Platis Yialos), which was used as a port since the Middle Ages.
The Basilica type of St. George’s church, was built in 1857, but the exterior narthex and the bell tower are subsequent. A built-in relief with the figure of St. George and date 1808, indicates that an older temple existed in that location. In the inscription is mentioned the name of the craftsman from Constantinople, who had built also the temples of Atsiki and Varos. The church with its impressive carved iconostasis, is celebrating also at the St. Spyridon’s feast, whose picture was found in the cemetery of the village around 1870.
Thanos
Thanos named after Athanasios, a wealthy landowner, who came from Thana a village of Arcadia. Initially the village was located near the sea, but the inhabitants moved to the mainland, due to fear of piracy.
Agia Paraskevi, the three aisles, Basilica type church of the village, was built with expenses of the community in 1890 in the site of an older, parts of which are embedded in its masonry. The five arches of the exonarthex are relying on monolithic columns.
The beach of Thanos, with the strange rock formations that surround the large sandy beach, is one of the most beautiful beaches of Limnos.
Kaspakas
The village was named after Kaspakas who was a Byzantine admiral who lived in the reign of Alexios Komninos the 1st (1081-1118). In 1918 the village became an independent community in which since 1981 Agios Ioannis and Gali are recorded as separate settlements. Agios Ioannis, with its sandy beach and the strange cliffs - Meteora of Kaspakas – is presenting an intense tourist growth over the recent years. On the hill "Poliochni" close to Agios Ioannis, a prehistoric site has been identified. The priest Angelis Michelis has indicated the area as a location of archaeological interest since 1934.
