The Parochial church Evangelismos tis Theotokou in Moudros, was built in 1903 and stands out for its elaborate façade, and for its history.

Thousands of pilgrims are crossing the carved entrance every year, on the day of Annunciation, to attend the service in the three- aisled basilica with the distinctive architectural elements in the exterior.

The huge cyclical window in front of the temple and its bell towers are particularly impressive which was built in the early 20th century with the contribution of the Educational Association of the residents of Moudros in U.S.A. The Epitaph of Evangelismos tis Theotokou is a donation of the admiral Paulos Kountouriotis, Head of the Navy General Staff during the Balkan Wars, while the official inauguration of the church took place in 1919.

The history of the church was signified by a tragic event that occurred in the past. On the site where the church was built, previously was a dependency of Agia Marina of the Monastery of Koutloumousiou of Mount Athos. The dependency was tragically extorted as Turks burned it down, along with seven monks, after they discovered in a well the corpses of Turkish officers.

Only two monks survived, who fled to Mount Athos and denounced to the abbot of the Koutloumousiou monastery that the Turks had killed local residents, in order to incriminate the monks, dissolve the dependency and take ownership of its fields. Then the abbot cursed the village which was solemnly resolved in 2001.
