“Depas amphikypellon”...
“Depas amphikypellon”. This term is used by Homer in the Iliad, to describe the luxurious glass of wine. Many centuries later, the same term was adopted by Schliemann for specific bowls which were characterized by tall cylindrical body with two vertical curved handles and were first found in Troy II. In Poliochni the archaeologists revealed exactly the same type of bowls. These findings are vast proof for the existence of communication networks and cultural exchange among mainland Greece and the Cyclades to Asia Minor and the Caucasus. Today, they are presented in the Archaeological Museum of Athens.
